The Destroy Design exhibition, featuring a selection of works on loan from France’s FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais (Regional Contemporary Art Collection), grants viewers an overview of the contemporary art and design realms. The shared focus of all the displays is on objects; mostly mundane, these are diverted, repurposed or at times manhandled. As such, they become installations, manifestos, photographs or sculptures. Artists and designers alike relate to certain design icons, repurposing them through parody and pastiche, but also by way of tributes.
Each of the two exhibition rooms will feature a short film on the works presented. Conceived by the curatorial team, these will underscore the links among the displays. The showing at the mudac is the first leg of this exhibition’s tour of Europe.
