Covering the wall. Contemporary wallpapers

03.11.2010 – 13.02.2011
Exhibitions

The mudac and the Musée de Pully have joined forces to present an exceptional exhibition devoted to wallpapers by contemporary artists and designers-the first such a major show in Europe. While, over the last ten years, designers have been showing renewed interest in wallpaper and gradually applying it to our walls, it is already since the 1960s that artists have been integrating this medium into their installations. In the exhibition, over 70 works address both the function and material quality of wallpaper.

Face au mur. Papiers peints contemporains will bring together several renown artists and designers over different exhibition premises in Lausanne. The aim of the exhibition project, conceived by curator Marco Costantini, is to establish links and enhance dialogue between artists and designers’ works, as well as to blur the boundaries between different disciplines in order to bring into light questions and concerns related to the use of wallpaper in contemporary practice. The exhibition will be accompanied by a major catalogue, the first monograph in French to focus on this subject.
