Competition of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture

As authorised by the Federal Department of the Interior, the Art and Design section of the OFC has organised the competition The Most Beautiful Swiss Books every year since 1999. The interest aroused by this competition has never faltered: this year again, no fewer than 408 books were entered. In February, a total of 27 books were singled out as being the most beautiful Swiss books.

The jury is made up of five members who are experts in various branches of book making. The jury evaluates the concept, graphic design and typography of the books, favouring innovation and originality. In addition, the experts examine the quality of the printing and binding, as well as the materials used. At the beginning of the year the composition of the jury changed almost completely; it is now chaired by Cornel Windlin.
