Competition of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture

Every year, a jury appointed by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture selects the Most Beautiful Swiss Books. This year, once again, the books distinguished in this way will be presented within the framework of an exhibition at the mudac in Lausanne. Of the 404 titles entered for the competition – a new record – 32 books were picked out by the jury, under the chairmanship of graphic designer François Rappo, Lausanne. They testify to the high quality of book art in Switzerland.

The Most Beautiful Swiss Books form the object of an exhibition that is held in the spring at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich and in the autumn at the mudac in Lausanne, two institutions with a very special interest in book art. The exhibition and the catalogue, designed by Fulguro, Lausanne, and the graphic designer Laurent Benner (Reala), London, offer an overview of contemporary creation in the book field in Switzerland and raise questions about topicality.
