By now, the Glass Art Collection launched by the mudac in the early ’70s has allowed us to attempt a quite in-depth historiographical analysis. The Collection patrons and the museum conservation team alike refused to restrict themselves to one or two prestigious historical centres of production, such as Murano or the former Bohemia, or to a country very active in the field nowadays.
On the contrary, the Collection’s intensely furthered development reflects an unquenchable thirst for novelty. In such a recent field, trends tend to evolve rapidly, to contradict or break with each other: each era’s “taste” gives way to the next. This central idea of “taste” is the focus point of this exhibition.
