Produced during a residency at the CIRVA – Marseille’s International Glass and Visual Arts Research Centre – this work seeks to make visible the trajectory of a knot in the making. Several blown glass parts intertwine in a complex way and the play of colours allows us to observe this torsion, the idea being to materialise an abstract concept.
Jean-Luc Moulène is a renowned French artist who is both demanding and controversial. His works often reflect the condition of the artist in society with humour and derision. For more than 30 years he has been working in various media such as photography, drawing, painting and sculpture. His work oscillates between art and science, and the use of the figure of the knot is a leitmotif in the mechanisms of his sculptural processes.
