The Solar Biennale at Milano Design Week 2025
mudac presents BADDANCE WITH THEBADWEEDS by artist Rocio Berenguer at House of Switzerland in Milan.
The futur is vegetal
For Milan Design Week, the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts (mudac), located in Lausanne, Switzerland, presents BADDANCE WITH THEBADWEEDS by artist Rocio Berenguer at House of Switzerland in Milan. As part of Soleil·s, exhibition currently on view in Lausanne for the second edition of the Solar Biennale, this participatory installation invites visitors to transform and join THEBADWEEDS, a trans-species music band half human / half plant. These mutants embody a queer ecological transition: emerging from cracks, oblivion, and the most inhospitable places, they humorously highlight the resilience and resistance of weeds. The immersive experience encourages the audience to mutate and dance, offering a festive and playful perspective on ecological transition. Everybody is invited to make its mutant body bad dance and earn seeds of futures.
”We must now learn to feed no longer on death (oil) but on life (the sun).” Eco-responsible commitment also involves the desire and the will to embrace attractive futures, to participate in an imaginative world based on pleasure. In response to catastrophic, alarmist, anxious and fatalistic imaginaries, to imaginaries of fear and guilt, Rocio Berenguer has taken up the challenge of creating an eco-sexy story and delivering a simple yet powerful message: THE FUTURE IS VEGETAL.

With this year’s theme focused on collaboration, the exhibition returns to the iconic Casa degli Artisti in Brera with multiple projects displayed across its three floors. Drawing on the legacy of the country’s design heritage, renowned and emerging talents take residence side-by-side translating the theme through their own unique vision and interpretation.
